TARIFF FOR REVENUE ONLY.
Sir, —Your correspondent, "Free Trada'* appears to be jubilant over the fact thafc a few importers and some members of lie legal fraternity in Wellington aro opposing additional protection to secondary indutries. A few facts, instead of general statements, would assist his cause, which is evidently very weak when he has to go back ever 25 years for something ia support, of it. It was not her free trad.® policy that made New South Wales mora prosperous than the other States, but tbs natural advantages of the country. In any case, she has made greater progress sine® adopting protection. Protection is no longer a theory. It is an accepted policy adopted to meet modern developments. Protection.
