The . final . matches iix the Australian j lawn tennis championships resulted as follow: —Men's doubles: Patterson and HaWkes beat G'Hara Wood and B—6, 6—l, 6—2. .Women's singles: Miss Boyd beat Mrs. Harper, 5—7, 6—l, 6—2. Mixed doubles: Hawkes and Miss 'Boyd beat Wertheim and Mrs. Harper, 4—6, 6—2, &—4. Junior men's doubles: Crawford and Hopman beat Lum and Cattanach, 10—8, 6—l. AUSTRALIAN CRICKETER. A. RICHARDSON TO GO HOME. (Received Jan. 30, 5.25 p.m.) A. and N.Z. . LONDON, Jan. 29. The Bacup Cricket Club, one of the Lancashire League teams, states that A. J. Richardson, of the Australian team, had entered into a contract to join the club in September last. The contract was cancelled by mutual consent two days later, as Richardson was anxious to tour New Zealand with a South Australian team. Ho has now decided to join Bacup in ISI2B, at a fee of £6OO. CRICKET IN AUSTRALIA. PLAY IN GRADE MATCHES. (Received Jan. 30, 8.28 p.m.) A; and "N.Z. SYDNEY. Jan,. 30. The grade cricket competitions in Sydney were continued yesterday. Batting for Balmain against Paddington Berry made 168. For Glebe against St. George Gray made 99 not out. For Gordon against Mosraan Sullivan made 97. Bowling for Western Suburbs against Randwick Parnell took five wickets for 28 runs. At Melbourne in the grade cricket matches, batting for Fitzroy against Carlton Landown made 104. For Prahran against Melbourne Thomson made 101. AUSTRALIAN MOTOR-CYCLING. STRATTON FAILS TO WIN. (Received Jan. 30, 8.28 p.m.) A. and N.Z. SYDNEY. Jan. 30. At a motor-cycle racing meeting the Maroubra Helmet race resulted:—Brinck, 1; Stratton, 2; Car'mody. 3. Won by a length. Stratton ran second to Brinck in the race for machines of all powers in the firstheat, but both men were beaten in the final. ~ BOXING IN AUSTRALIA. HALL DEFEATS REISLER. (Received Jan. 30, 8.28 p.m.) A. c.nd N.Z. SYDNEY. Jan. SO. At the Sydney Stadium last evening in s boxing match Joe Hall defeated Johnny Reisler on points. Both men are Americans. . Rail had the advantage all through and showed himself to be a much superior boxer to Reisler. At the Melbourne Stadium Billy Grime knocked out Jack Jones in the fifth round after a tough fight.
