It was announced yesterday that Dr. Marx had formed a new Cabinet as folic-c:— i Chancellor. —Dr, Marx. Finance.—Herr Oehler (Centre Party). Foreign Affairs.—Herr Stresemann (German People's Party). Defenc...—7or. Gessler (Independent). Vice-Chancellor <d Minister of the Interior.—Herr It .~ct (Gorman National Pi- -, i Thi.j portfolios of JTa. - .Uco, Commantcaii'T- and Agriculture h&vo hten secured by ;lerautu National Party, the Labour j.-'irtkrtio by t-bo Centre Party, Economies v the Herman People's Party, and Tel .graphs bv the Bavarian People's party. The official publication of the names of the new Ministers has been postponed because the Coalition parties have not yet sanctioned it. The Centre Party is objecting to the Nationalists, the inclusion of whom it regards as too reactionary, especially that of Herr Hergt., who is an ardent Monarchist. , Nevertheless it is stated that no change in Germany's foreign policy is likely. Dr. Marx arid jtferr Stresemann are determined vigorously to follow their present plans. The, President, Marshal Hindenburg, has taken the unusual step of vetoing the appointment of Dr. Graft' as Minister of Justice owing to the Centre Party's strong representations. Ho also vetoed Herr Hergt as Vice-Chancellor. Otherwise he confirmed the appointments. Several members, including Dr. Wirth, told Dr. Marx reactionaries like Herr Hergt and Dr. Graef could not possess their confidence. It is recalled that when Dr. Graef was vice-president of the Reichstag he refused to be introduced to the late President, Herr Ebert, Dr.. Marx is now busy reshuffling the portfolios. He has resumed negotiations with the Nationalists and is seeking some less reactionary candidates. OPINION IN FIANCE. UNEASINESS DISPLAYED. NEWSPAPERS UNANIMOUS.(Received Jan. 30, 5.5 p.in.) A. and N.Z. PARIS. Jan. 29. The French newspapers unanimously hail the new German Cabinet as one which bears the most reactionary political complexion of any since the war.
