METALLING KAIMAI ROAD. ANGLING DURING HOLIDAYS. [IIY TKI.KGIIATMI, —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAURANGA, Saturday, Tho Tauranga County Council has accepted the tender of Messrs. Wilmott and Wilson, of £1698, for metalling work on the Kaimai Road. The tender has been approved by tho Public Work K Depart, roent and tho work hits been commenced. Tho county engineer, Mr. It, L. Pearless, has submitted plans for regraditig and metalling Scantlebury's Hill to the Public Works Department for approval. Tho engineer has also reported to the council that a number of bridges in tho county require immediate attention. He has boon authorised to prepare plans mid specifications for tho improvement of the road f.-om Williams' Crossing to Mount Maunganui. Hundreds of people have recently made full use of tho extensive bathing areas on each side of the town peninsula, .and a great number of visitors have patronised Mount Maunganui. Tho number of inland visitors to tho town and tho Mount is increasing. The deep-sea fishing has boon the moans of providing splendid r.port for many. During tho holidays numerous sharks have been captured, while kingfish have boon exceptionally plentiful. Some fine catches of liapnku havo been made off both Mayor and Mot it i Islands.
