OPEN BOAT CLASSES.

MANENE'S NARROW VICTORY. Class M. —18ft restricted class. First prize, i!S; second, £3; third, £l. Championship flag presented by Mr. E. Lelioy. On the fall of the last flag Manene shot across the line, closely, followed by Mollie, Mawhiti and Matarere, Maroro being 30s late. Manene, Matarere and Maroro were always within easy distance of one another and when they made their way up the harbour the times passing the flagship were: Matarere, lh 20;tn 30s; Manene, _ lh 20m 355; Maroro, lh 20m 50s; Mawhiti, lh 21m 10s; Mollie, lh 25m 30s. In the second round Manene went into the lead, while Maroro also replaced Matarere. The boats in this class experienced the same squall as that which struck the 22-footers and, although they had their spinnakers set, their skippers hung on to them until* the finishing line was crossed. The boats presented a wonderful picture as they tore along on the top of the water. The finishing times were: Manene (scr), 3h 36m 235; Maroro (scr), 3h 36m 445; Mawhiti (scr), 3h 37m ss; Mollie (scr), 3h 40m 4s. Kesult: Manene, 1; Maroro, 2; Mawhiti, 3. Manene also wins the champion flag for class N. Star Class.—First prize. £5. Tho three star boats. Moa, Ola and June, faced tho starter, the boats crossing the line in the order stated. On the beat to the bastion Ola IV. went into the lead and was never headed. Moa occupied second position and before the second round was completed June retired. The finishing times were:— Ola IV. (scr), 3h 37m 15s; Moa (scr). 4h 7m 475. Result: Ola, 1: Moa, 2. Class V.—Open or half-decked, 18ft. overall. First prize, £8; second, £4; third, £2; fourth, £l. Championship flag presented by Mr. E. Leßoy. Fourteen boats competed, the start being a very pretty one." _ Magic crossed the line first, and. almost in line abreast, came the following: Chance, Surprise, Secret, Ngari, Solace, Millicent and Wild Wave. Surprise soon overhauled Magic and Chance, and once in the lead she was never headed. Before the Bastion mark was raehed Drone worked her way into second position and this she maintained. The finishing times were:—Surprise (scr), 3h 43m 435; Drone (scr), 3h 54m 48s; Secret (4m 30s). 3h 59m 555; Wild Wave (5m 30s), 4h 8m 255; Doris (3m), 4h 12m 6s; Solace (18m), 4h 25m 8s; Phantom (11m). 4h 25m. 325. Result: Surprise. 1; Drone, 2; Secret. 3; Wild Wave, 4. Surprise also wins the champion flag for this class. Mystic, Belle. Magic, Millicent, _ Scud, Decima, Chance, Ngari and Ibex did not finish. Class S.—Open or half-decked boats, 10ft. and under. First prize. £8; second. £4; third, £2; fourth, £l. Championship flag presented by Mr. E. Leßoy. The six teams made a great show as they all stood for the jine. Lancia led the way across, closely followed by iNamu, Kio, Swiftsure, Ben Bolt, Sea Sleigh and Ben Machree, with Torea, Bival, Almira and fc'leetivmg handy. Namu passed Lancia shortly after the start and, assuming the lead, drew away from the rest of the fleet. The finishing times were:— Namu (scr), 3h 14m 595; Sea Sleigh (7m), 3h 21m 375; Ben Bolt (11m), 3h 27rc 425; Lancia (8m), 3h 27m 51s; Atangatai (9in), 3h 28m 245; Muru (10m). 3h 31m ss; Ben Machreo (19m), 3h 37m 495: Rio (18m), 3h 43m 355; Almira (18m), 3h 47m IGs. Result: Sea Sleigh, 1; Namu, 2; Ben Bolt, 3; Ben Machree, 4. The champion flag was won by Namu. Torea, Fleetwing and Swiftsure did not finish. » Class Y.—l4ft. SQUare-bilge sailins dinghies. First prize, £8; second, £4; tin so £2; fourth, £l. Championship flag presented by Mr. E. Leßoy. Aierte led the way over the line in this race and was followed, by Sea Gnome, Sea Breeze, Cupid and Continuance. A little later Jupiter, Lone Star, Idaho and Sea King followed. Making the best of her start, Aierte worked out a nice lead, which she maintained on both rounds of the course. The finishing time 3 were:— Aierte (lm 30s), 3h 24m 40s; Cupid (scr). 3h 34m 30s; Sea Gnome (3m), 3h 41m 335; Continuance (Gm). 3h 48m 575; Sea Breeze (6m), 3li 54m 355. Result: Aierte, 1; Cupid, 2; Sea Gnome, 3; Continuance, 4. Aierte also wins the champion flag. Jupiter, Idaho, Spot. Lone Star, Sea Spray, Sea Dawn and Sea Bubble did not finish. Class T. —14ft. sailing dinghies, round bilge only. First prize. £8; second. £4: third, £2; fourth, £1 or trophy. Championship flag presented by Mr. E. Leßoy. Marie got the Lest of the s';art, and next to her came Dulcie, Viper, Tamure, Nyri.a, Meteor, Mizpah and Kismet, in that 'order. Marie did well on the Wind for the first leg of the course, but finally had to give place to Kismet and Dulcie. The finishing; times were:—Kismet (scr). 3h 49m 41s; Dulcie (Gm), 3h 55m 245; Marie (2m). 3h 5Sm 275; Resolute (4m). 4h 0m 21s; Viper (7m). 4h 4m 28s; Meteor (8m), 4h 8m 535. Result: Dulcie. 1; Kismet. 2; Resolute,, 3; Marie, 4. The champion flag was won by Kismet. Cla3S Z. —Takapuna one-design cla-.s. First prize, £5; second, £:i; third, £l. Championship flag presented by Mr. E. Leßoy. The six competitors in this class were sent away to a very pretty start, Kitty crossing the .line just ahead of Lai Lai, with Frolic, T.'O, Delptine and Comet following. The finishing times were:—Delphine (scr), 4h Jim 443; Lai Lai (2m), 4h 13m 255; Comet .lm), -lh 13m 3s; Tic/ (scr), 4h 16m 255; Kitty (scr). 4h 17m 555. Result: Lai Lai, 1; Delphine, 2; Comet, 3. The champion flag was won by Delphine. Frolic did not finish.
