ANIMALS' WELFARE.
Sir,—There are many humane peoplein Auckland, both men and women. I would like to ask them, through your paper, to atte .d any of the sales of poultry in the city markets. The grossly inhuman way in which fowls are "handledwrenched legs or wings do not seem to matter —and the pitiable way in which they are piled in heaps upon "one another to die at their leisure, after a hurried and most casual neck-wringing, would cause an outcry that would demand redress and reform. I made a contribution towards the S.P.C.A., and would like to. know that our inspector is aware of this horror in our midst—and also when and where the dog's home is to take shape, for which my money was given. Humanity.
