SWIMMERS FAREWELLED.
CENTRE'S ENTERTAINMENT. THE PRESENTATION OF PRIZES. Prizes won at the New Zealand Swimming Championship Meeting were presented at a aocial tendered by tho Auckland Swimming Centre, in the Society of Arts Hall on Saturday evening. The hall was tastefully decorated with the colours of all tho centres represented at the championships, and supper was served by tho Ladies' Entertainment Committee. On behalf of tho Auckland Centre, tho chairman, Mr. T. C. Hobbs-Jcacs, thanked the visitors for their co-opeiration in ensuring the remarkable success of tho meeting, and congratulated them on their fine sportsmanship in victory and in defeat. , Mr. W. E. D. Bishop, president of tho New Zealand Am&teur : Swimming Association, said that as a visitor lie could vouch for tho enjoyment of the stay in Auckland. Tho Centre was to bo congratulated upon the efficient manner in which it had conducted the most successful championship meeting on record. Dancing was continued until midnight. Most of tho visitors left for home by train last evening. They were given a hearty send-off by local swimmers and enthusiasts. Miss Jepaon, of Dunedin, is remaining in .Auckland for about two months. The Wellington and Canterbury teams will meet in Wellington to-day in tho annual contest for the Norden Cup. D. P. Lindsay, national champion from 220 yds. to one mile, will then proceed to Napier and Hastings to compete at meetings this week, and at Napier will attack the 220 yds, New Zealand record.
