Miss Sarah Doudnev was many years ago a well-known and popular novelist. She wrote many novels and contributed to many magazines. Her stories, such as " When Wo Iwo Parted,'.' " Strangers Yet/' " Stepping Stones," and her tales for girls had many readers 30 or 40 years ago, and she wrot° as late as 1906. M. PHJLLIPPE WORTH. Acstriitian and N.Z. Cable Association. The name of Worth ;s famous throughout the world wherever civilised women wear clothes. The firm of Worth was founded by Charles Frederick Worth, an Englishman boru in Lincolnshire in 1825. He was apprenticed to Swan and Edgar, the! "well-known London drapers, and in 1858 started as a dressmaker in Paris. His origjnaliiy and skill in design won the patronage of the Empress Eugeni and of fashionable Paris. His business grew enormously, and for rnany years Worth's set the tast» ana ordered, the fashion of Paris and of the world of women's clothes.
