AUSTRALIA AND AMERICA. ROOM FOR BETTER BALANCE. A. and N.Z. NEW YORK, Dee. 15. Sir Hagh Denison, Australian Trade Commissioner. to the United States, was the guest of the British Empire Chamber of Commerce, where he made a speech on the trade relations between Australia and the United States. He declared that the United States could not expect to hold a huge export trade unless it was prepared to meet other nations and take a certain proportion of their goods in return. Australia's imports from the ©nited States were valued at £16,200,000. but the United States only imported from Australia goods , valued at £9,000,000., This, he said, could not last much longer. He pointed out that between Australia and Britain the trade balance was nearly equal.
