INVOKING PUBLIC INTEREST. A NORTH ISLAND LEAGUE* An Auckland branch of the North Island Agricultural College League was formed at a conference held at the Town Hall last evening. The headquarters of the league are in Palmerston North, where a public meeting held recently decided to invoke. the sympathy of all parts of the. North Island in the work of the college which is to be established there. To this end, the Mayor, Mr. G, Baildon, convened the conference of last evening, which was attended by representatives of bodies and individuals interested in scientifio farming. Mr. J, A. Nash, M.P., president of the league, addressed the conference, and the value of the proposed college was stressed' by the- various speakers, It was unanimously decided to request the Palmerston North League to enlarge its scope to include the whole of the North Island, and that branches should be formed in the various districts. Mr. C. F. Bennett was appointed convenor of the Auckland branch.
