BIRKENHEAD BOROUGH.
ISLAND BAY APPROACH. The Birkenhead Borough Council metlast evening, the deputy-Mayor, Mr. A. Hadfield, presiding. improvement of the approach to Island Bay Wharf at a cost of £IOO was authorised. The engineer reported the erection of the war memorial had been held up owing to delay in receiving the red granite columns from Australia. Additional fire hose is to be purchased. Six permits for new buildings were granted.
