BACON PIG INDUSTRY.
HANDICAPS ON PRODUCTION. , [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] NEW PLYMOUTH. Monday. "Wore it not for tho high prico of grain, good pig farmers could increase production by those means," said Mr. A. Morton, chairman of directors of the Inglowood Bacon Company, at the annual meeting, when speaking upon a suggestion that by utilising meal with milk three times tho number of pigs raised at. present could bo produced with improved quality. " When the farmer has to pay £1 to 24s for a sack of pollard," added Mr. Morton, "it does not make it profitable, If tho Government would remove its restrictions upon the entry of bran and pollard from Australia, the production in the pig industry could bo greatly increased. But we, as producers, are not able to do all we could because of the handicaps we labour under."
