FATAL FALL FROM POLE.
POWER BOARD EMPLOYEE. EVIDENCE AT THE INQUEST. An inquest concerning the death of Cecil Henry Anstiss, aged 28, as a result of injuries received through falling from an electric power polo in Newmarket on October 4, was held yesterday before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., coroner. Richard H. Newtek, overhead foreman ! employed by the Auckland Electric Power Board, said deceased was employed on two poles cioso together, ono of which was old and was about to be removed. The trifurcating box and the cross-arms had to be dismantled from the old pole. Deceased stood on the arm of the new nole, leaning across and placing his weight on the trifurcating box. He leaned to ono side to seo how the box was attached to the pole. The next moment deceased and the box fell to the ground. Witness could not .say whether the accident was caused by the box breaking away from the pole, or whether deceased overbalanced- and fell and cained the box with him John Edward Wright, carter, said tho box seemed to give way with deceased. Had the box not given way witness feli certain that deceased would not havo fallen. . A verdict was returned that deceased died of injuries received through accidentally falling from an electric power pole.
