ELDERLY MAN'S DEATH.

KNOCKED DOWN BY MOTOR. AN ACCIDENT AT GREY LYNN. The circumstances causing the death of Isaac Wood, aged 79. in the Auckland Hospital on October 3, were inquired into by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., coroner, on Saturday. Dr. John Mark said deceased was admitted to the hospital on September 25 suffering from concussion. He did not fully regain consciousness and died on October 3. His injuries were more than would be caused by an ordinary fall. Complications had set in and he succumbed to his injuries. Frederick Davies said that on September 25. he was backing a motor-car down hill toward Baildon Road, Grey Lynn, when his brother, who was with him in the car, called out to him to stop. He applied the brake and on -jumping out of the car found deceased lying on the ground. Every care was taken in backing the car. Olga Brownleo raid she saw the car being backed on to Baildon Road. The horn was sounded repeatedly. A little later she saw a man lying on the footpath. Though the man's head was cut and bleeding there was no sign of blood on the car. The, coroner returned a- verdict that death was due to a form of pneumonia, accentuated by deceased being knocked ' dawn by a motor-car.
