SUPPLIES FROM AMERICA. BRITISH TRADE FIGURES. HEAVY IMPORTATIONS. The Fruit Grower (London) gives particulars of the consignments of apples which reached the British markets from the orchards of the United States of America. The total shipments for the season to April 3 were 2,868,308 barrels and 4,972,108 boxes (bushels), against 2,597,528 barrels and 4,569,641 boxes (firing the season of 1924-25. There are approximately . three bushels in a barrel, so that the supply for 1925-26 season consisted of 13,577,032 boxes cr cases, against 12,362,201 boxes in the previous period. These quantities are four times greater than the total consignments sent to the British market from Australia and New Zealand irr the most favourable seasons. Including the supplies from New Zealand, the exports of apples have not exceeded 3,000,000 boxes or cases. In addition to sending four times the quantity, the supplies from America have a much wider distribution in Great Britain than tiie consignments from Australia and New Zealand. During the American season, which closed early in April, Liverpool received 1,136,762 barrels and 1,064,816 boxes, against 944,218 barrels and 1,040,655 boxes last season; London, 428,378 barrels and 945,941 boxes against 534,558 barrels and 1,229,314 boxes; Glasgow, 396,800 barrels and 704,946 boxes, against 332,961 barrels and 775,067 boxes; Manchester, 269,885 barrels and 79,207 boxes against 267,067 barrels and 147,624 boxes; Southampton, 105,253 barrels and 286,536 boxes, against 104,055 barrels and 335,896 boxes; other British ports, 252,195 barrels and 201.237 boxes, against 222,352 barrels and 129,039 boxes; Scandinavia, 156,264 boxes, against 94,578 barrels and 289,227 boxes; miscellaneous ports, 122,77.1 barrels and 621,916 boxes. Exports to other British ports included 2870 barrels from Halifax to Newcastle; 160 barrels and 140 boxes from New York to Hull; exports to Scandinavian ports included 1348 boxes from New York to Finland, 135 boxes to Norway, 175 barrels and 901 boxes to Denmark ; exports to miscellaneous ports included from New York to Hamburg 154 barrels and 2503 boxes; to South America, 5093 boxes.
