ESCAPE FROM WAIKERIA.
MURPHY PLEADS GUILTY.
COMMITTAL FOR SENTENCE.

Clement Murphy, who escaped from the Waikeria Borstal Institute last week and was recaptured at daylight on Sunday, appeared before justices of the. peaco to-day on a charge of escaping from custody.
Murphy, who is undergoing a sentence of threo years' .imprisonment, and Leonard Smith escaped during the lunch hour last Thursday. When recaptured Murphy had crossed the Puniu River to evade a guard at the brfdge. Accused pleaded guilty and was committed to tho Supreme Court at Auckland for sentence.
Smith, who was also recaptured, has not yet- been dealt with by the authorities.
