MORRINSVILLE NOTES.
TELEPHONE IMPROVEMENTS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN' CORRESPONDENT. ] MORRINSVILLE, Wednesday. Anion); the improvements that have been effected at the Morrinsville post office recently is a modern testing apparatus for discovering faults in telegraph and toll lines. This week 70 subscribers in the Mangateparu and Tauhei telephone district were disconected from the exchange owing to a fault which was quickly found by the new apparatus. Water had got into the lead-lined underground cable. Another installation is that of a 100-number board in the telephone exchange to replace a 30-number board which had done service for sometime. One of the heaviest thunderstorms experienced for many years in this district occurred last evening. The lightning was very vivid. A motor-car driven by Mr. F. C. Kennedy, of Starky's, Road, collided with a cow which ran suddenly in front of the car on a narrow portion of the road. The head lamps wero broken and other damage was done to the front of the car.
