GERMANY AND POWERS.

NOTE ON DISARMAMENT. DEMANDS DEEMED TRIVIAL. THE NATIONALISTS AROUSED. LEAGUE ENTRY OPPOSED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received 7.5 p.m.) Renter, BERLIN. Aug. 28. " Strange " and " trivial " are the adjectives applied by German circles to a Note from the Conference of Ambassadors to the German Government. The Note demands: (1) An unambiguous legal decree to terminate the military activity of Nationalist organisations. (2) A discontinuance of the illegal recruiting of the Reichswehr. (3) The fulfilment without delay of the demands of the Inter-Allied Military Commission of Control. It is pointed out that out of over 2000 Notes regarding disarmament bo far received from the Inter-Allied Military Commission of Control and the Ambassadors' Conference the latest is regarded as the most inopportune in view of Germany's application for entry to the League of Nations. It has been disclosed that at yesterday's meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the. Reichstag members of the German National Party voted in favour of a Communist motion demanding the withdrawal of Germany's application to enter the League. The National Party to-day refused to permit its member, Herr Hoetzsch, to join the German delegation to Geneva, although the Government had asked him to go. This refusal was based on the uncertainty of the present political situation, particularly in view of disarmament problems; also to the fact that the position which the party's representatives would hold at Geneva regarding their freedom, of action and influence is not clear. GENEVA MEETING. LORD CECIL, EN ROUTE. WAY CLEAR FOR GERMANS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 7.5 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 29. Viscount Cecil, who is to represent Britain at the forthcoming meeting of the Council of the League .of Nations at Geneva, left for Switzerland yesterday. It is now confidently believed that no obstacle will arise to prevent Germany from taking her seat as a permanent member of the Council.
