BIRKENHEAD BOROUGH.
STREET-WIDENING PROJECT. TIIO Birkenhead Borough Council met last levelling, -the Mayor, Mr. E. G. Spates, presiding. A deputation from residents of Valley Road requested the improvement of that thoroughfare. It was pointed out that about 6ft. of private property was necessary to widen the road and the council decided to ask those interested to donate this.' The dressing with bitumen of paths in several streets, was authorised. The formation of Huia Road, Birkdale, with the grader for about 13 chains, at a. cost of £3O, was decided upon. Tho Mayor and engineer were empowered to confer with the trustees of the Methodist Church with a view to relinquishing portion of the property for the improvement of the corner at Onewa and Glenfield Roads. Five permits for new buildings were granted.' . '
