RAILWAY FATALITY.

PARNELL TUNNEL ACCIDENT.

MARRIED WORKMAN KILLED.

KNOCKED. DOWN BY TRAIN.

Through being knocked down by a train in the Parnell tunnel at 11 o'clock on Saturday morning, Mr. David Leslie Manson, aged 45, of Penrose, sustained injuries from which he died in the hospital a few hours later. Mr. Manson was one of a gang employed in relaying rails in the tunnel, and before the accident they went out to allow two trains to pass. On re-entering the men missed Mr. Manson, and they found him lying seriously injured between the rails. It is thought one of the engines struck him, throwing him clear. The injured man was conveyed by ambulance to the hospital, where it was found he was suffering from serious head injuries and a broken leg. Mr. Manson was a married man with six children.
