BURGLARIES IN SOUTH.

BAKERY SHOP ENTERED. THIEF RAIDS A CASHBOX. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] ASHBURTON. Saturday. A thief entered Messrs. J. and J. Sutherland's bakery shop last* night; stealing a cashbox containing about £5 in silver. An entry was effected by removing the putty from a window in the bakehouse. The cashbox was removed from where Jt was secreted in the office.

The intruder left his hat and a packet containing four cigarettes on the floor near a window. A suspect was arrested this morning. This burglary follows on aft incident on the previous night, when Messrs. W. H. Collins and Company had a plateglass window smashed and an electric torch case valued at lis stolen. A shock awaited Mr. and Mrs. Salek on returning to their home on Wellington Terrace after, a social evening at the Wellington Bowling Club on Thursday.
