HALF-YEARLY CONFERENCE.

'The provincial conference of tho Associated Churches of Christ in the Auckland district was' continued at the Church of Christ, Dominion Road, 011 Saturday afternoon. Mr. A. A. Creamer, president of the Northern florae Mission Advisory Board, presided over an attendance of 80 representatives of the city and suburban churches, A devotional service was ltd by Mr. W. G. Carpenter, of the Vivian Street Church of Christ, Wellington. This was followed by the young people's session, over which Mr. R. Vickery presided. Addresses were given by Messrs. A. Fletcher, J. Goodsir, I. Hay and E. Hanham, each representing the young people in one of the churches. ' Next cams the foreign mission session, the principal speaker being Mr. W. E Vickery,. of the Onehunga Church, who deali with the call from the foreign field. Mr. W. Taylor spoke of the work in South Africa, while Mr. T. J. Bull explained the share of the .. Auckland churches in financing tbe work. An address on the Bible school work was given by Mr. H. P. Leng,■ who sa'.d 60 per cent, of the church membership came from the Bible schools. He remarked .that one of the most hopeful signs of the times was their attention to the care and training of the chil.lic:i. A session of the Christian women's nr-xi-liary was held, Mrs. H. Galium presiding. Mrs. M. V. Ross read the report of the sisters' work. A vote of commendation on the splendid efforts of the sisters was carried unanimously. " Wherr the conference adjourned at 6 p.m. tea was provided by the mission circle of the voung people of the Dominion Road Church. The evening was devoted to a combined home mission rally. Items were provided by members and friends of the churches represented, while the speaker of the evening was Mr. W. G. -Carpenter, of Wellington, secretary of the Dominion Home Mission Executive. A special offering was taken for funds to be used in Dominion home mission work and over £l7O was given or promised. A successful conference session was brought to a close with the sinking of the favourite hymn, "Blest be . the Tie That Binds."
