SUNDAY MEETINGS.
SITES IN QUAY STREET. -In view of the - ' heavy nature of the traffic passing along Quay' Stree- West in front of- the Ferry Building the Auckland City Council recently" decided not to permit meetings to be held at this point on Sunday, afternoons' and evenings and instructed all parties,; including the Salvation Army, "to transfer their meetings, to Quay Street East in a position not less than 100 ft. from Queen Street. At a meeting of the council on Thursday evening a request was received from the Salvation , Army to be. allowed to continue its- services in Quay Street West. The chief traffic inspector reported there had been a .distinct improvement in street conditions since' t'he removal of the meetings to the east of Queen Street. He considered the new position was in every way suit* able and said it , would be only a matter of time when the Salvation Army's-ad-herents became accustomed to tbe new locality. He recommended that tho council's former decision should be adhered to. The recommendation was adopted.
