Thompson, the retiring diocesan secretary, at Bishopscourt on Thursday evening, in the -presence 'of'/a"large; gathering. The ; presentation was made by Archbishop Averill," who took the, opportunity of welcoming Archdeabon Simkiti, the new diocesan secretary, and Mrs; Simkin. Mr.. Thompson will shortly leave for Melbourne. . The address was. signed, by Archbishop Averill on behalf of the members of the Standing- Committee, the Diocesah Trust Boards and the Auckland Diocesan Synod and made; reference to the excellent work done by Mr. Thompson, particularly in 'connection with the amendment and consolidation of the diocesan statutes. The address was handsomely bound in blue morocco and was richly embellished and illuminated.
