RELIGIOUS CONFLICT.
THE REGULATIONS TO STAND. REFUSAL OF MODIFICATION. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 7 P.m.) MEXICO CITY. Aug. 19. Replying to the request of the Mexican Roman Catholic episcopate to suspend the recently enforced religious regulations, the President, General Calles, .says he is unable to amend the Constitution, and, because of his political convictions, he cannot, submit to Congress a bill modifying the religious laws.
