TAKAPUNA AND BAYSWATER.

Sir, —I hasten to correct an unfortunate error in your report of the Takapuna meeting held on Thursday night. I am reported as saying that the "people of Bayswater bribed the council." That is entirely wrong. I have too much respect for the councillors personally, and for the people of Bavswater, to say or insinuate anything of the sort. What happened at the meeting was this: When I challenged His Worship the Mayor to mention one of the "inaccuracies" with which he said my evidence "before the bus regulations committee "bristled," he replied that I had said "Bayswater wagged the present council." I admitted making that statement and said it was true. A. M. Gould.
