BLINKS AND SMOKE.

Blinks, the cat, cleaned his whiskers and yawned. "Get up, old sober sides!" yapped Smoke, the spaniel, cheerily. " Leave mo alone," complained Blinks. " When will you learn that I like to be left alone ?" " I don't," said Smoke. " Well, I do," said Blinks, " and it's because years and years ago, dogs were wild—" " And so were cat 3." " Certainly. But dogs went round in gangs, while cats kept to themselves. They lived alono." " Very unsociable," said Smoke. "I wouldn't have liked it a bit."
