BY ARCHER. The programme will open with the Greenmount Hunters' Steeplechase, Tho class engaged is poor and there is little form tp guide backers. Sea Comet and Dimlight have been working nicely and may share favouritism, while that safe conveyance Cui Bono will also have a good following. . As a result of his good track form Fair Abbey, who has been galloping and jumping well, is likely to .be favourite for the Hunters Hurdle Race. Pendavies ran well in similar class at Ellerslie in June arid should also receive solid support, while Kamehameha reads as well as any of the others.

The Sylvia Park Handicap is a very open ia.ce. Rahepoto, Royal Form. Dress Circle and Quinvardia have all been galloping well and will each have a following. Eoval Form and Dress Circle may be the two to receive most support. * A useful field is carded for the Jelliooe Handicap, but a few of the' candidates may not be quite ready to show their best. Nothing has been working better than that improving mare Lomint. and she will be a popular selection. Lord Star is another that should receive solid support. for he has recent form to commend him. while Tresham has done nicely lately and will not bo neglected. The Pakuranga, Hunt Cup should provide a good contest. Hypothesis may find his big weight a, steadying load, bitt he is a good deal superior to most of the candidates. Birkeno3e will probably be the fittest horse in the field and should be first choice. Pendavies and Lupineel are two light-weights that haye impressed mo favourably and are likely to run well. Notwithstanding that she is not a big one and has a substantial weight. Wenday will command solid backing for the Auckland Handicap, for she has been working attract tively. The three-year-olds, Nassock and Chamour. have been doing nicely, and so also has Star Comet. Wenday and NasBoek may be best supported. Quite a number of the Ladies' Bracelet candidates have earlier engagements and a line on their prospects mav be obtained therefrom. Fair Abbey and Kamehameka read well. „ , : : A very large field is carded for the Dunedin Handicap and fancies will take a wide r<inge. It is a very open race, but the King Lu-Queen Arch bracket. York Abbpv, and Pavo are some that may find solid support;

TWO-YEAR-OLD PARADE. The parade of two-year-olds, fixed to take place at Ellerslie to-day, bears every prospect of forming a very pleasing feature in the opening: of the racing season in Auckland, for it is anticipated that the whole of the 20 youngsters nominated will grace the scene.
