STRUCK BY LIGHTNING.

CHURCH SPIRE SENSATION. TWO STEEPLEJACKS' ESCAPE. Two steeplejacks working on the spire of Park Church —Presbyterian Church of England—Canonbiiry, had ft remarkable escape on the occasion of a recent storm, when the spire was struck by lightning, 4 Both men were seated in a bosun's chair. There was a flash of lightning and a loud clap of thunder. Smoke emerged from the Steeple and the steeplejacks, as well as onlookers on the ground, thought the rope by which they were suspended had caught fire. Fortunately, however,, this was not the case, as the lightning conductor had received the full force of the stroke. On examination later traces of fusing were discovered in the conductor.
