RAIN STARTS A FIRE.
Rain recently caused a fire in a timber yard at Folkestone. A lorry loaded with timber was standing in the yard and under the wood, which was covered with tarpaulins, was a quantity of lime in sacks. The rain reached the lime, which, becoming heated, set fire to the timber. A high wind was blowing, but the timber yard war saved by firemen, several of whom were affected by the fumes.
