LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

THE NEW ZEALAND TEAM. EARLIER SAILING LIKELY. THE AORANGI ON AUGUST 3. New arrangements are understood to have been made for the embarkation of the New Zealand League team for Britain. It is reported that advice is now to hand from the English League dealing with the matter. It; was intended that the team should sail by the Tainui, leaving Wellington on August 14, but it is almost certain that the team will now sail by the Aorangi, which will leave Auckland on August 3. The matter will be finally settled at the meeting: of the New Zealand council this evening, AUCKLAND LEAGUE. DECISIONS OF THE COMMITTEE. The Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby League met last evening, Air. W. J. Hammill presiding. . The judicial committee reported that it had dealt with two cases of players ordered off last Saturday. A Ponsonby plajer was suspended for three playing Saturdays, and a Marist player was severely cautioned. The Waimari Club. Christchurch. wrote seeking financial assistance in bringing a fifth grade team to Auckland to play a curtain-raiser in connection with the Auck-land-Canterbury match early in August, lhe letter pointed out that the Waimari team had no.t been defeated in its grade and that it was a good side It was decided to make a donation of £5 toward the team s expenses. Permission was granted to the Grafton Club to travel to Taupiri on Saturday. Considerable discussion arose over . the recommendation of the advisory committee that next Saturday's fixture. Devonport v. Marist, to be played at Devonport, should be transferred to Carlaw Park. t It was intended to play Ponsonby and Newton as the principal game. Mr. Hammill said it was absurd to imagine the Newton-Ponsonby game would be the most attractive fixture. Mr. J. H. V. Mansill raised strong objections to any alteration, and challenged the League's power to alter any fixtures as laid down in a minute dealing with the arrangements of matches. Mr. Davidson said the patrons of the code must have first consideration, and only the best game should be played at Carlaw Park. It was decided to adopt the advisory committee's recommendation.
