Players, the latter, in their second innings, made 141 for three wickets, (Dipper, not out 75). The players won by seven wickets. ENGLISH COUNTY CRICKET. OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES. Reuter. LONDON. July 9. In the county cricket championships Sussex, in their first innings against Yorkshire, made 181 runs. Rhodes took four wickets for 58. The second innings' score was 113. Kilner took five wickets for 35. Yorkshire, in their first innings made 385 for seven wickets and declared. Yorkshire won by an innings and 91 runs. Lancashire, in their first innings against Somerset made 192, (Green, 50, Makepeace, 60). White took six wickets for 81. The second innings yielded 183, (Makepeace, 63, McDonald, 50). Somerscts's first innings produced 214, (Lyon, 83). McDonald took five for 96. The second innings total was 45 for three wickets. The match was abandoned owing to rain. Batting for Warwick against Kent Pearsons made 125 runs. For Kent, Hardinge took six wickets for 32. Kent won. For Essex against Glamorgan, Freeman made 118. O'Connor took six wickets for 53 and Nicholls five for 47. Essex won. For Leicester against Notts Astill made 158, not out. For Notts Why sail made 109. Notts won. BRITISH SOCCER TEAM. SEVENTEENTH WIN IN CANADA. (Received 5.5 p.m.) Reuter. TORONTO. July 10. The, touring English Association football team defeated a picked Ontario team-to-day by 7 goals to 2. This is the Englishmen's seventeenth consecutive victory in Canada. RUGBY LEAGUE FOOTBALL. A WIN FOR QUEENSLAND. Australian, and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 8.45 P.m.) BRISBANE. July 11. In a Rugby League football match Queensland beat New South Wales by 37 points to 19. UNIVERSITY ATHLETES. BRITISH BEAT AMERICAN. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Rfcd. 8.35 p.m.) LONDON. July 10. An athletic contest between representatives of the American Universities of Cornell and Princeton and of Oxford and Cambridge was held to-day at Stamford Bridge. The chief results were:— 220 Yards.—Russell (Cornell), 1; the New Zealander, A. E. Porritt (Oxford), 2; Rinkel (Cambridge), 3. Time, 21gS. Won by three yards. 100 Yards.—Russell, 1• Porritt, 2; Backweli (Princeton), 3. Time, 10s. Won by a yard. Oxford and Cambridge won by seven events to five.
