FRUIT ON LONDON MARKET.
AUCKLAND GROWERS PRAISED PACK AND APPEARANCE GOOD. ,"I want to send Auckland growers a line of congratulation and choer regarding their fruit on this side," says Colonel C. Gray, chairman of the Fruit Export Board, writing from London. "Speaking as a whole the condition, pack and appearance have been excellent. I do want to ask growers not to be discouraged so far as their personal efforts are concerned with this year's result. I would say, without hesitation, that with an enormous crop on their hands and packing for export for the first time they are entitled to sincere congratulations." Commenting on Colonel Gray's remarks, Mr. H. S. Izard, the Auckland representative on the Fruit Control Board, says:—"From the above it will be seen that the poor prices obtained in England are not the result of poor fruit or faulty packing, and I sincerely trust that growers who have exported during the past season will do so again. I am convinced that unless a larger quantity of our exportable fruit is sent overseas, the local fruit market will be still further depressed each year, unless growers will see the absolute necessity of some radical change in our local market conditions."
