INVALID CONTRACT.

YOUTH AND MOTOR-CYCLE.-The liability of a minor for hire-pur-chase instalments on a motor-cycle formed the subject of a reserved judgment delivered by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court yesterday. The plaintiff. Motor Replacements, Limited (Mr. Wyatt), claimed £59 from John Edward King, apprentice {Mr. Ferinell), being £37Mor instalments and £22 for t repairs to a motor-cycle. Defendant had paid £9 10s off the cycle and had defaulted. The magistrate held the Infants Act provided that a contract for anything but a necessity was void if the purchaser was under 21. A motor-cycle was not necessary to defendant, a youth of 19. Judgment would accordingly be entered for defendant.
