A CALLOUS SUICIDE.
dynamite placed in mouth
TEN COLLEAGUES INJURED. A. and N.Z. PAEIS. July 4. An appalling case of suicide is reported from the mining town of Susa, in the French colony of Tunis. A foreman in the mines named Gagnon walked into a mess-room where 25 of his colleagues were gathered and placed a stick of dynamite in his mouth. He coolly lighted the fuse in the presence of the men, who immediately scattered to seek safety. In the explosion which resulted the building was blown to pieces. Gagnon suffered the same fate. Ten of the other miners were terribly injured. A pig in a yard a mile away was also killed.
