RUGBY FOOTBALL.
THE AUCKLAND FIFTEEN. TWENTY-TWO PLAYERS TO TRAIN With a view to selecting the Auckland Rugb# representative team for the series of important matches ahead, the selectors, Messrs. K. Ifwersen, R. Wilson and C. E. Anderson have chosen 22 players for regular training. The representative matches in which Auckland will play include the Maori, match at Aucklani on July 17, the All Black match at Auckland, August 4; the Taranaki match, at New Plymouth, on August 7; the Hawke's Bay match (Rinfurly Shield challenge), at Napier, on August 21; the Wairarapa match, In Wairarapa, on August 25; the Wellington match, at Wellington, on August 28; the Poverty Bay match, at Auckland, on September 4; the Taranaki match at Auckland, on September 11; and the Waikato match ai Auckland, on September 18. The players for training are:— Backs.—Goodacre (Grammar), Olsen (University),* Matson (Ponsonby), Lucas (Ponsonby), Hook (Ponsonby), N. Ifwersen (Grammar), Meyer (Training College), Lof 1 (Marist), Macken (University), McManus (Ponsonby), W. Wright (Marist). Forwards.—Keene (University), Palmer (Ponsonby), Hadley (Marist), Webber (Ponsonby), Cathcart (Grammar), Batty (Grammar), McWilliams (Ponsonby), Finlayson (Grafton), Lynch (Grafton) Macdonald (Marist), McCarthy (Ponsonby). A training practice will be held during the week-end. The selectors state that attendance is essential if the players chosen are desirous of retaining the opportunity of being selected for future fixtures.
