HEAVIER MOTOR TAXES.
SUPPORT FROM NEWMARKET. Approval of the Hamilton Borough Council's advocacy of a header tax on motor vehicles was recorded by the Newmarket Borocrgh Council last evening, The Legal and Finance Committee reported that after consideration of the arguments advanced by the Hamilton Borough Council in respect- to relieving the ratepayers as a body and deriving road funds from the users of the highways, it was, thought the Government should be urged to consider legislation on the question. . ... " ... It was decided to endorse the proposals of the Hamilton Borough Council on condition that the incidence of taxation em-' braced commercial vehicles.
