Y.W.C.A. NOTES.

A series of drawing room meetings are being held to bring the needs of the girl prominently before people's minds at the present time. On Wednesday, Mrs. Jameson, of Dromorne Road Remuera, invited a few friends to listen to an address by Miss Jean Stevenson. Among those present were Mesdames McCormick, McLaughlin. Gunn, Archie Clark. Olivier, Kirker, Miss Thomson. Miss Stevenson spoke most eloquently on the needs of the girl of to-day and enlisted the sympathy of those present in the big girls' appeal which is shortly to be made to the city, to raise funds for a hostel and to finance the Girls' Holiday House at Block House Bay. Another most successful afternoon was held by Mrs F. Winstone, Epsom, on Thursday last for the same cause. There were present : Mesdames Barry, Bayly. Duncan. Goodfellow. W. Goodfel- j low, Henderson, Kendon, Lawrv, Matthews, Moody, Patterson, Pilkington, Veale, Wadd'ingham, Whittome, Misses Goodfellow, Patterson, Rishworth, Waddingham. After listening with much interest to Miss Stevenson's appeal on behalf of the girls, many of those present came forward with practical offers of help and a very pleasant afternoon was brought to a close when afternoon tea had been served. The Grand Pageant and March of the Nations which was presented by the Y.W.C.A. last October proved so successful and popular that it has been decided to hold it again next month in the Town Hall. Many requests have been received from friends that the pageant should be staged again as they thought the performance was such a fine one and gave such a comprehensive idea of the work and ideals of the Y.W.C.A. Mrs. Edgar Webb has kindly consented to stage manage the production. The Inter-House Girls' Choir. helped by volunteer members of the WE.A. singing class, coached bv Mrs. Basham, will be responsible for the incidental music and (lie various girls' associations that took nut in the former production have again promised their assistance, so that everything points to an interesting and enjoyable performance.
