The fact that the consumption of kJcohol in Britain has been considerably tes since the war is revealed by the latest pgures. The reduction in the consumption of Spirits was ,000,000 gallons. There has an increase in the consumption of fedne amounting to 5,000,000 gallons. Expenditure on alcoholic liquors last tear was £7 4s per head of the populafon, or slightly more than £515,000,000. It is estimated that 1,500,000 .gallons of thisky was shipped from England to America. For this Scottish distillers retired £2*000,000.
