BANDITS RAID VILLAGE.

POLICE OFFICERS BEATEN. [FROM OTJB, OWN CORRESPONDENT.] SHANGHAI, Feb. 15. A Chinese village at Pootung, on the right bank of the Whangpoo River, opposite Shanghai, has been attacked by bandits. The bandits displayed considerable skill and daring, worthy of a better cause. A band of about 50 robbers armed with rifles first of all attacked the headquarters of the local police force. All the officers were bound with ropes and beaten and all the arms in the station were seized. The robbers then ransacked the village. It is estimated that some £2OOO worth of booty in money and valuables was seized. The bandits managed to make good their escape.
