Feb. 8, The Evening News, elaborating the appeal of the Home Secretary, Sir William Joynr,on-Hicks, that citizens should rally to the State in the event of an industrial crisis, states that the Government's plans to teed the nation indefinitely during such a crisis inicluda the appointment of the Postmaster-General, Sir William Mitchell-Thomson, as Chief Commissioner under a schema to be brought into operation within 4B hours; The Government has obtained the minutest details of provision; stocks, and has arranged to t£ke over transport, in respect of which a complete censu» of vehicles, and ( »lsa of Labour available has been arranged for. " _ ■ In order adequately to protect improvised services against interference the Government will employ secret wireless installations for communications.
