THE FRANKLIN FIXTURE. GOOD ENTRIES RECEIVED. r 3Y telegraph.- —own correspondent. ] PUKEKOHE. Tuesday. Very satisfactory entries liave been received for the Franklin Agricultural and Pastoral. Society's autumn show> to be held on. Friday < and Saturday of next week. In the horse sections alone there aro 450 entries. The hunting classes have never been better. There are 25 entries In the light-weight hunter competition, while all the other hunting and haek classes are well filled. An unusual feature is the entry of stallions. There are seven listed, one thoroughbred, one trotting stallion and five draughts. In the cattle section there are 433 entries. The entries for pedigree Jerseys are up to former years, while in the Friesian, Ayrshire and milking Shorthorns there have never been such good entries. There are more sheep entries than in 19.24. The keenest competition is in English Leicester,?. There are also strong entries in Ryeknds sheep. This is the first time this breed has been exhibited at the Franklin show. The pig section is particularly sirong, there being 77 entries. j GUESSING OS' WEIGHTS. An innovation at the Kumeu Show on Saturday will be a series of competitions for motorists. They will include driving contests, an acceleration test, tilting the ring and potato lifting. Motor-cyclists will have the opportunity of competing in a riding contest and an acceleration test. There will also be a slow race and a turning competition for push bicycles. It is hoped that lady drivers will participate in the motor-car events.
