[;by telegraph.—own cohbespondestx.] DAEQAVILLB, Tuesday, Addressing a meeting of business men and prominent settlers at the invitation of the Chamber of Commerce lasjt evening, the Hon. W. Pember Reeves said he was asitounded a!; the progress made by the district since he first visited it 32 years ago. Areas which were then 6wamps now ca,rry dairy cowa and an abundance of feed. He prophesised a great future for the district and was well pleased with the signs of progress shown on all sides. Mr. Reeves said he could assure the people of New Zealand that affairs in Britain were going on steadily and the Mother Country would still be able to purchase all our produce. Prices might fluctuate but i$ prices fell people in the Dominion would benefit by getting British goods cheaper. Mr. Reeves and party visited Trounson's national kauri park to-day and will spend to-mojrrow sight-seeing in the district, leaving for Wnangarei on Thursday morning.
