SUICIDE BY HANGING.
AN INEXPLICABLE ACT. ' i-£—_ JUST RECEIVED PROMOTION,, (BST TJtUBGBAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION, j > TAIHAPE. Tuesday. An inquest was held this afternoon concerning the death of Ivan Alexander Jtfewdick, a single man, aged 22 years,:! & cleaner on the railway, who was fonts*! panging by,.a sash cord suspended from the ccumg of the room occupied by hiri.. The evidence snowed that the deceased Was in good spirits last evening and was *!ated at hii» promotion to iireman add tho prospect of making his first trip on the footplate the following day. The body of the deceased was found this jcorning by -v man vrith whom he was staying and apparently he had been dead for about eight hours. A note left by the deceased stated: " I am mad doing this act for in my senses I would not have clone it. God forgive mo, hat I can't bear the weight'of ttiy heart.." No evidence was given to explain amy reason for his act, and it was, stated the decoasod was always cheerful and cantented. , , " A verdict that the deceased! committed fulcidn by hanging -whita temporarily iniance was returned.
