TOOLS SECRETED AWAY.
A TERM OF HARD LABOUR. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Thursday. While serving a term of imprisonment for theft John Quayle did not spend his period of enforced retirement repenting of his wrongdoings, but was busily engaged planning out the future. He is a carpenter by trade, and whilo in custodywas engaged in carpentering work. He secreted tools in a convenient placo, and when - discharged walked off with the stolen goods. He was to-day sentenced to three months' hard labour, and was remanded to Dunedin to answer further charges.
