THREE BREAKDOWNS.
! LONDON TRAFFIC STOPPED. TRAINS, TRAMS AND TUBES. LONDON. Oct. 3. j A unique triple breakdown of London j traffic, involving trains, trams and tubes, occurred during the early morning rush j j hours to-day. ! At S a.m. a failure at the Deptford I power station stopped for 45 minutes a score of London-bound electric trains on the Brighton and South-eastern 1 linos. Obstruction on the tram lines at Ken- | niugton delayed thousands of city workers coming to their offices, and simultaneously the wheels of an underground carriage on the Bakerloo railway left the rails at Piccadilly Circus, causing a three-hour delay. Despite the unprecedented congestion, conductors of omnibuses rigidly eniorced j the new rule prohibiting passengers from | standing. Taxi-cabs reaped a harvest. j _
