AVONDALE AFFAIRS.
Sir, —In jour issue of 12th inst., the Mayor of Avondale, Mr. W. J. Tait, agrees thai uy statement regarding overdraft was correct, and then suggests that a portion of the cost of Manokau Road was for chipping footpath. What- an absurdity, as about three years ago this footpath from beginning to end was tar srjaled. With regard to the other data 'supplied to yon by Mr. Tait, allow xne to remind your many readers that Mr. Tait has such a wretchedly bad memory that he always fails to remember the amount of his last guess, lam prepared to meet Mr. Tait on any occasion that may suit him (ratepayers being present), and prove conclusively that his data is not only misleading, but, also untrue. If Mr. Tait is so sure that there is nothing to hide, and that everything is in order, I challenge hmi to agree to a magisterial inqnirv_ into all the affairs of the borough. If this bo agreed to, it may be unnecessary to request the Mayor "to resign. W. Penbleburt,
