MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. [BY TELEGRAM.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] • WELLINGTON. Wednesday. Tho executive council of the Public Service Association adopted the following remits:—That tho probationary period fq,r the nursing staff at mental hospitals be reduced; that a six-days week of 47 hours per week be granted to the prisons and reformatory staffs throughout the Dominion, with alternate Saturdays and Sundays whole day free from duty, or alternately that an increase of £2O per annum be made to the salaries of all prison officers on account of the long [ hours of duty; that the camp allowance granted to surveyors, engineers, forcai . rangers and field cadets be 4s a day. Other remits adopted were:—That the Government be requested to repeal section 10 of the Public Revenues Act, 19X0; ' ' that the filling of higher positions in the - Lands and Survey Department be again : brought before the Commissioner: that" the Commissioner arrange to have Easter Tuesday added to the list of holidays; that the executive council point out to tho Government the urgent necessity of providing houf.es at Seacliffe and Stoke lor attendants; that a reduction be made in the charges for board and lodging for the extra month's l§ave which the mental" hospital staffs now rccpivo.
