FAST QUARTER OF A MILE. WOMAN'S 220 YARDS FEAT. (Kcccired 5.3 p.m./ Reuter. NEW \OKK. Aug. 15. Swimming at Indianapolis, Virginia, Whitenack, of New York, to-day established a world's record for the 880 yards, free style. 110 swam the distanco ill 12m. 565. At San Rafael, California, Miss Eleanor Garatti unofficially set a new world's record for the 220 yards free style swim for women. Her time was 2m. 455. This is 3 3-5s better than the record of Miss 11. James, made in England, in 1923.
