PRINCE IN URUGUAY.

WELCOME AT MONTEVIDEO. GREAT CROWDS IN STREETS. (Received 5.5. p.m.) Router. MONTEVIDEO. Aug. 15. Tho Prince of Wales arrived at Montevideo yesterday aboard the British battleship Repulse. Tho Ropulso was escorted to tho harbour by a Uruguayan cruiser and aeroplanes. Tho Prince was welcomed by the President, Dr. Jose Serrato and Government officials. His Royal Highness was then driven to tho Government palace through streets which were lined with troops. Enthusiastic throngs shouted "vivas" and dropped flowers from balconies. Crowds pressed close to the Prince's motor-car and had to be restrained by the police. Accompanied by the President and high officials tho Prince visited the tomb of Jose Artigas, who was known as "tho Uruguayan Liberator," and placed upon it a bronze wreath similar to that which was deposited by the King of Italy several years ago. His Royal Highness attended a cattle show on Friday afternoon after an informal luncheon at a restaurant in the Municipal Park, given by tho President. On his arrival at the palace after coming ashore tho Prince had reviewed tho Uruguayan troops from tho balcony. His appearance was the signal for great cheering and applause.
